Job Description
About the role
The Growth team owns two areas that together determine how Gamma grows and how that growth turns into a business.
Monetization builds the shared systems that power how Gamma monetizes. The impact here is multiplicative: the platforms you build unlock growth everywhere. These systems turn AI innovation into repeatable, scalable growth.
Self-serve growth works directly on user-facing experiences: onboarding, activation, discovery, and lifecycle flows. This team's work directly shapes how users discover, adopt, stick with, and become Gamma champions.
Our team has a strong in-office culture and works in person 4–5 days per week in San Francisco. We love working together to stay creative and connected, with flexibility to work from home when focus matters most.
What you'll do
As the engineering leader across both areas, you'll:
Lead and scale the engineering team across both monetization infrastructure and product-led growth
Own the monetization platform: payment integrations, subscription management, billing, AI usage tracking and crediting, pricing systems
Own the growth surfaces: onboarding and activation flows, in-product education and discovery, lifecycle experiences, notifications, and messaging infrastructure
Collaborate cross-functionally across product, design, data, and other engineering teams. Partner on the full funnel: where users drop off, what the onboarding experience should look like, and where to focus next
Build and run a team that can move fast on experiments while also building durable shared systems
Mentor, coach, and develop engineers on the team
Contribute to broader engineering and EPD leadership by proactively identifying opportunities or misalignment and addressing them
What you'll bring
5+ years experience as a senior+ engineer, 2+ years managing and leading high performing teams
Experience leading growth engineering, with a track record of moving activation/retention/conversion metrics
Experience with monetization or payments infrastructure (subscriptions, billing, app store payments, pricing systems)
Thinks deeply about product experiences and can look at a funnel and form a point of view on what to change
High cross-functional fluency
Comfortable pushing into ambiguity to find and drive the next big growth bets, even when the path isn't fully defined
Hands-on and technical enough to evaluate architecture decisions, guide the team’s technical direction, and review code, build prototypes, or jump in as needed
Compensation range:
The base salary for this full-time position, which spans multiple internal levels depending on qualifications, ranges between $250K - $325K plus benefits & equity.
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to experience and expertise in the requirements listed above.
If you're interested in this role but you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway! We're always excited about meeting great people.
