Job Description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril Maritime delivers platforms, systems, and integrated effects in the maritime domain. Our autonomous
vehicles (sub-surface and surface) are the cornerstone of these capabilities, and we continually strive to push the
boundaries of the possible in terms of endurance, autonomy and mission capability.
In Australia, that work has a name. Ghost Shark is the extra-large autonomous undersea vehicle built with the
Royal Australian Navy and the Defence Science and Technology Group — designed, built and taken to sea in
Australia, on a timeline the sector said was not possible. It is the sharp end of the Dive-XL product line and the
proof case for what a sovereign autonomous undersea capability looks like. The team behind it builds the
platform, the payloads, the autonomy and the support enterprise, and works directly with the operators who will
take it to sea.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for an Account Director, Dive-XL / Ghost Shark to own Anduril's most consequential undersea
customer relationship. In this role you will serve as the critical bridge between an engineering organisation
moving at software speed and the Royal Australian Navy's undersea warfighting enterprise. You will be the senior
Anduril voice to the RAN, NSSG, and the Commonwealth departments that shape and fund the program — and
the senior warfighting voice inside our product organisation.
This is not traditional defence account management. There is no locked baseline to defend, no thirty-year
sustainment tail to administer, and no quarterly relationship call that constitutes the job. Ghost Shark changes on
a software cadence. Capability arrives in increments, goes to sea, and gets judged by operators within weeks. The
person in this seat is the conductive path between those two facts — carrying operational reality back into the
roadmap with enough authority that it changes what we build, and carrying our capability forward to the
Customer with enough credibility that they believe it.
The ideal candidate possesses a rare combination of operational pedigree, capability nous, and commercial
instinct. You must be credible going deep on the product with our own engineers, fluent in how a capability
requirement actually gets written, contested and funded inside Defence, and conversant in the ASDEFCON
machinery that turns intent into signed scope. You are as comfortable discussing autonomy behaviours and
payload trades with a software team as you are discussing employment concepts with a Fleet Commander. You
will speak the language of the Customer but move at Anduril's pace.
If you have been on patrol, have sat inside Navy capability and know how the sausage is made, and want to
spend the next phase of your career deciding what an autonomous undersea fleet actually does — this role is for
you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the Commonwealth relationship: Be the single accountable owner of the Australian account for Ghost Shark and Dive-XL — across the Royal Australian Navy, NSSG, and the Commonwealth departments that shape, sponsor and fund the program. From senior capability sponsors through to the operators who will take the vehicle to sea.
  • Define how Ghost Shark fights: Lead the development of employment concepts and CONOPS for autonomous undersea capability in the Australian context. Understand how the RAN intends to fight with this fleet — and shape that thinking rather than merely receiving it.
  • Translate operational need into product requirement: Distill operational analysis, threat assessment and customer intent into clear, prioritised capability needs for engineering, ensuring product development solves real warfighting problems. Bring it back as defensible input to the Dive-XL roadmap, not a wish list.
  • Act as chief translator and briefer: Serve as the primary operational interlocutor for the Customer. Lead senior briefings, capability forums, working groups and demonstrations across classified and unclassified environments.
  • Shape and capture follow-on work: Drive the growth path from today's contracts to fleet-scale. Shape requirements early, respond to Commonwealth approaches to market, and partner with Programs, Contracts, Legal and Growth to convert customer intent into signed scope inside the ASDEFCON environment.
  • Align execution to product strategy: Partner with the Product Director to ensure contract execution and customer commitments stay aligned to the capability roadmap. Escalate misalignment early, not at the milestone.
  • Own the narrative at sea: Own the customer story around trials, demonstrations and milestone events — make sure what the Commonwealth sees in the water maps precisely to what they have been told they are buying.
  • Carry Australia into a global product line: Represent Australian customer interests into the wider Dive-XL portfolio, and carry lessons from Australian operations into US, AUKUS and allied campaigns.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering, Programs, Support Systems, T&E, Contracts, Growth and Communications so the Customer sees one coherent Anduril.
  • Go to sea: Travel to trials, to the Customer, and to the waterfront. This is not a desk role.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Operational pedigree: Extensive Royal Australian Navy warfare experience with a demonstrated operational record at sea. Submarine background is strongly preferred; a Principal Warfare Officer with genuine undersea warfare depth will be equally considered.
  • Navy capability background: You have sat inside a capability manager, force design, or requirements role. You have written and defended a capability requirement through the Defence process — not just received one.
  • Exceptional leadership and gravitas: Proven ability to command a room, build trust, and communicate complex concepts to stakeholders ranging from software engineers to flag officers.
  • International experience: Significant allied exchange, coalition operations, or overseas posting, with the standing to operate credibly alongside US and UK partners.
  • ASDEFCON fluency: Working command of the ASDEFCON environment and Commonwealth approaches to market, with the ability to read an SOW and instinctively know where it will fail.
  • Technical literacy: Sufficient depth to engage substantively on autonomy, mission systems, payloads and undersea employment concepts — and to hold a real trade conversation with an engineering team. Relationship managers without technical depth, and technical staff without customer ownership, will not meet this bar.
  • Commercial instinct: Comfortable shaping scope, building the case for investment, and understanding how a capability decision becomes a funded program.
  • Pace and ownership: Demonstrated high-energy, high-ownership leader with a strong bias for action.
  • Proven ability to speak Commonwealth and move at Anduril pace in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 30–50%.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an NV2 security clearance. TSPV desired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Royal Australian Navy submarine service at command, executive officer, or senior warfare-qualified level.
  • Deep undersea warfare subject-matter expertise — ASW, MCM, ISR, maritime domain awareness, or special operations support.
  • Direct experience with uncrewed or autonomous systems in an operational or capability development context.
  • Prior experience within the Australian Submarine Agency, NSSG, Head Navy Capability, ASCA, or AUKUS Pillar 1 / Pillar 2 structures.
  • Existing relationships across allied undersea programs and partner navies.
  • Prior industry experience at a defence prime or scale-up in a customer-facing capability, capture, or program leadership role.
  • A history of zero-to-one defence program growth — standing up a capability or customer function rather than inheriting a mature one.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a technical, strategic studies, or business discipline.
  • Existing NV2 or TSPV clearance.
