About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team during an exciting phase of growth. In this role, you’ll serve as a key individual contributor within the Tax Department and will have significant ownership over state and local tax compliance, tax registrations, new-state and new-site onboarding, sales and use tax, property tax, exemptions, business licenses, tax notices and tax operations.

The ideal candidate is an experienced tax professional who can independently manage assigned responsibilities, identify tax risks and opportunities, research complex state and local tax issues, and develop scalable processes. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence while partnering closely with the Tax Director and cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do

Federal, Stare & International Income Tax

  • Support federal, state and international income tax compliance.

  • Assist with state nexus analysis and monitoring.

  • Gather, analyze and validate state apportionment data.

  • Assist with state income tax exposure analysis.

  • Coordinate tax return data and schedules with external tax providers.

  • Maintain tax compliance documentation and support tax notices and inquiries.

Tax Provision & Tax Accounting

  • Support the preparation of Company's quarterly and annual income tax provision.

  • Support ASC 740 calculations and related tax accounting processes.

  • Reconcile tax accounts and investigate variances.

  • Analyze effective tax rate movements and identify key drivers.

  • Support quarterly and year-end financial close processes.

  • Improve the return-to-provision process and supporting documentation.

Tax Planning

  • Develop tax planning models and analyses.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce the Company's effective tax rate and cash taxes.

  • Evaluate state tax planning opportunities.

  • Analyze credits, incentives and other tax benefits.

  • Support modeling of potential tax strategies.

  • Assist with tax analysis related to significant transactions.

Tax Compliance Operations

  • Maintain federal and state income tax compliance calendars.

  • Track estimated tax payments.

  • Monitor tax notices and correspondence.

  • Maintain supporting tax documentation.

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and service providers.

Research & Business Partnership

  • Research federal and state income tax issues.

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the Company.

  • Partner with Accounting and Finance to identify transactions with tax implications.

  • Support tax analysis for new states, entities, investments and business initiatives.

  • Communicate tax implications and recommendations to internal stakeholders.

  • Escalate significant technical or strategic issues to the Tax Director.

  • Participate in special financial projects, support cross-functional accounting initiatives, and perform other tax-related duties as assigned by leadership to support the evolving needs of the company.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.

  • 4+ years of relevant tax or accounting experience.

  • Experience with federal and state income taxation.

  • Experience with ASC 740.

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Ability to interpret financial information and translate it into tax implications.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience working with Accounting, Finance and other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to identify tax risks and opportunities and recommend solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, MST or equivalent advanced tax/accounting experience is preferred.

  • Experience with rapidly growing, multi-state organizations, data centers, technology companies or complex corporate structures is a plus.
