Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world around it, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely to their destinations. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. The subteam for this role will be:

Software non-determinism diagnostics team.

You will:

• Design and build infrastructure and tooling to diagnose software non-determinism across autonomous driving systems
• Investigate and resolve non-deterministic execution patterns across Waymo codebases

You have:

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering or a related technical field
• Strong programming skills in C++
• Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and systems debugging

We prefer:

• Experience with statistical data analysis, anomaly detection, or tracing tools
• Understanding of common sources of software non-determinism (e.g., concurrency/race conditions, floating-point determinism, etc.)
• Experience with graph execution frameworks
