Job Description
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About the Role:
Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company. We source power, manufacture modular data centers, build hyperscale campuses, and operate our own cloud. That puts us in four fast-moving markets at once: AI compute, power, data center construction, and manufacturing. Something important changes every week. A competitor raises, a hyperscaler signs a power deal, a GPU generation slips, a new model is released, a state rewrites its interconnection rules. Someone has to see it first and analyze what it means for us.
The Strategy team sits in the Office of the President and Chief Strategy Officer. We write the position papers the executive team decides from, and we incubate new programs until they are ready for a permanent owner. Every one of those calls rests on a view of the market. You will build that view, and the system that keeps it current.
Your Mission:
Build the intelligence function that helps Crusoe see around corners.
You will develop a differentiated view of the markets, competitors and technologies shaping Crusoe's business, then translate that information into clear implications and recommendations for the company.
The role combines research, judgment and building. You will develop original market, innovation and competitive insights, partner across Crusoe to understand the questions that matter most and build AI-enabled systems that make high-quality intelligence faster, more reliable and easier to maintain.
Success is not measured by the volume of research produced. It is measured by whether the work helps Crusoe make better decisions, identify important changes earlier and solve meaningful business problems.
What You'll Be Working On:
Market and competitive intelligence
Build and maintain a differentiated view of the markets that matter to Crusoe, including AI compute and cloud, hyperscalers, neoclouds, semiconductors and accelerators, power and energy, data center infrastructure, manufacturing and other adjacent markets.
Develop competitive intelligence on key companies and ecosystems: strategy, customers, partnerships, capacity, economics, technology, geographic expansion and other indicators of how competitors are evolving.
Build structured market maps and datasets that allow Crusoe to understand how companies, customers, technologies and value chains connect.
Identify the developments that could materially affect Crusoe and distinguish meaningful signals from the much larger volume of industry noise.
Maintain rigorous sourcing and update standards so the underlying intelligence is trusted and auditable.
Original insight and strategic analysis
Turn fragmented information into clear, actionable insights for Crusoe. Identify what is changing, why it matters and what the company should consider doing differently.
Work cross functionally to translate business pain points into clear strategic questions, size opportunities, compare alternatives and test assumptions using both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Synthesize external research with insights from customers, partners, experts and teams across Crusoe.
Write concise position papers and strategic briefs that articulate the conclusion, supporting evidence, implications for Crusoe, key uncertainties and recommended next steps.
Own recurring intelligence products for leadership that elevate the developments most relevant to Crusoe rather than simply summarizing industry news.
Act as a research and thought partner on live strategic questions, including market entry, product expansion, partnerships, M&A screens, competitive responses and emerging technology opportunities.
Build relationships across Crusoe to tap into the company's collective expertise and ensure external intelligence reflects what teams are seeing on the ground.
AI-powered intelligence infrastructure
Turn recurring research and intelligence needs into repeatable workflows using AI research tools, agents, APIs, data sources and light scripting.
Build systems that can monitor markets and companies at a scale that would be impossible through manual research alone.
Design AI workflows with trust and verification in mind. Maintain traceability to primary sources, test outputs for accuracy and understand where automated systems are likely to fail.
Build tools that augment judgment rather than replace it: systems that make analysts faster while preserving clear ownership of conclusions and recommendations.
Document and share workflows so they can be reused and improved across the Strategy team.
What You'll Bring to the Team:
Background
2 to 5 years in strategy consulting, investment or equity research, corporate strategy, market research, or similarly analytical environment. A strong body of independent work can substitute.
Hands-on AI fluency. You use Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar tools every day for real research and analysis, and you can show us workflows you built and understand their limitations. We will ask you to walk us through one.
You have turned a recurring information need into a dataset and a repeatable process: an agent, a scraper, a pipeline, a monitoring setup, or a model with a real refresh process.
Strong market and commercial judgment. You can reason about customers, competitors, value chains, business models and unit economics and can get up to speed quickly in an unfamiliar market.
Analytical rigor. You evaluate the quality of sources, build estimates and scenarios, check your math, distinguish facts from assumptions and can defend your reasoning.
Traits
Curiosity. You keep following the question until you understand how something actually works. Become obsessed with the problem, not the perceived solution.
Judgment. You can distinguish what is interesting from what is important.
Synthesis. You can build the tools that take 1000 pieces of information and identify the three things leadership actually needs to know.
Builder's instinct. When a process repeats, you look for a way to make it faster and better.
Healthy skepticism. You catch the misleading chart, unsupported claim, fabricated citation or number that does not tie.
Clear communication. You write conclusion-first and explain complex topics simply without eliminating important nuance.
Conviction with adaptability. You form a view when the evidence supports it and change your view when the evidence changes.
Collaboration. You actively seek expertise across the organization and are comfortable working across technical, commercial and operational teams.
Ownership: Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and determine what is most important without waiting for a fully defined brief.
Bonus Points
Domain exposure: AI compute and cloud, semiconductors, data centers, or advanced manufacturing, power and energy markets.
Experience building a competitive intelligence or market intelligence function
Python, SQL, AI coding tools, or experience with data APIs.
Primary research or expert network experience.
Experience evaluating startups, vendors, partnerships or acquisition opportunities.
What Success Looks Like:
Leadership has a trusted, current view of the markets, technologies, and competitors most relevant to Crusoe.
Teams across Crusoe come to you with strategic questions because they trust the quality and practicality of your analysis.
Market monitoring catches the changes that matter early enough to act, without burying people in noise.
Research that previously required days of manual work becomes faster and more repeatable through AI-enabled workflows.
Tools and processes you build are reused across the Strategy team rather than becoming one-off projects.
Leaders use your analysis when making important strategic decision
What You Get:
A seat on the team that shapes Crusoe's biggest bets, with direct exposure to the President and CSO.
Room to build: the tools, the data, and the workflows.

Autonomy, and a team that values ownership.
